BREAKING: Thai troops continue to violate Cambodian sovereignty in Anseh area
Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence Spokesperson Maly Socheata has issued an urgent statement condemning continued Thai military activities in the Anseh area, declaring them a clear violation of Cambodia’s sovereignty and the ceasefire agreement.
According to the Ministry’s official update, Thai armed forces resumed trench-digging operations at 9:53 a.m. after illegally entering Cambodian territory earlier in the morning.
The Ministry reported the following timeline of Thai military movements on Tuesday:
• 9:09 a.m. — Thai troops violated Cambodian territorial integrity in the Anseh area.
• 9:50 a.m. — A Thai military truck delivered construction materials, including culverts and tires, and offloaded them in front of their outpost.
• 9:53 a.m. — Thai forces resumed trench-digging activity.
• 10:55 a.m. — A second Thai excavator approached within 15 meters of a Cambodian police post and began installing culverts and tires into a prepared foundation trench.
Spokesperson Maly Socheata strongly condemned the continued military activity as a serious breach of both the ceasefire agreement and Cambodia’s sovereignty.
She added that since the early morning hours of August 5, Cambodian forces have repeatedly contacted their Thai counterparts, demanding the immediate removal of obstacles and withdrawal of heavy equipment from Cambodian territory.
Despite these efforts, the Thai side has yet to comply, although bilateral communication remains ongoing.
